Ajax manager Frank de Boer virtually confirmed that Vertonghen’s move to Arsenal next season is already a done-deal.
“Yes we’ve already discussed it,” de Boer was reported as saying*in aljazeera.com.
“When there’s a club that he’s already interested in - and it’s really got to be a good club - then he will leave. It’s 100 per cent sure.

If its true as I hope the Podolski story is then its good news. Id take someone of his quality even if it means crowding the cb position.

Would be great to get Vertonghen. From those who have seen him loads, he's a fine ball-playing centre-back, a kind of modern libero, starting moves from the back, with Vernon Anita dropping deep, allowing him to bomb forward and finish off moves too.
We'd have some fantastic, versatile options if he came in, but for some reason, I reckon he's off to Meelan. Nesta, though he's still class, is getting on a bit, and Vertonghen with Thiago Silva sounds great.
Yes Dempsey, he's an Arsenal player, class. Shades of RvP. No way would he pass up a move so let's go and get him. Will be great if all our signings are a done deal before the transfer window opens. And we have Jack coming back and Ox coming through, plus if any of the get injured, don't forget, Song can play there.

Fat Fuck will be sold and I can't see us signing Yossi. So there is definite room for Dempsey.
We've all seen how Arteta, a solid if unspectacular player has easily slotted in. We should be signing more players from the Prem and Dempsey fits the bill perfectly.
