I doubt it.
Rodgers has said repeatedly he's been working to a budget (a budget he's all but used up by the way he was talking about it). I doubt he'd be stashing £5m down the sofa on the off chance of getting Sahin.
And in any case it's a proportion of £115k, a proportion which the selling club usually has the majority of.
And, I know a very tenuous, hypothetical and probably unlikely point, if he can help us get back into/near the CL places then that's fine with me. And if we go backwards then a) Sahin wouldn't even consider joining us at the end of it anyway (although Mourinho has said he wants him back, hasn't he?) b) he's be the least of our worries anyway.
Also, can someone confirm for me... is Lucas no longer considered a joke? Is he considered a decent player these days? And if so, when did this happen? My Liverpool banter is about 4 decades out of date.

Sahin basically is very reluctant to leave RM, he's being forced out by Maureen but in his mind he's a Madrid player so he probably doesn't give a fuck where he plays for one season. He'll walk into their team (and ours tbh) so its a good fit for him.
This deal was dead as soon as it was apparent that we wanted a buyout clause - Madrid never had the intention of selling him. I reckon we pulled out some time ago and it's just been RM negotiating with Liverpool for the past few days.
