Well, we are supposed to have pulled out at 2m fee and 70k a week, which is 5.64m.

I'm assuming Liverpool are topping that. It's been reported that 5m is the fee. in any case, more than 6mil in all, for a seasons loan? Seems pretty expensive to me....

If he helps them achieve their goals this season then it doesn't matter really. If he's decent then I doubt Liverpool will have any qualms about using the buy option. If he's shite they can send him on his way without buying him no problems, 6m is not a lot of money for Liverpool neither is it for us.

My only hope is that we have an alternative lined up because it's clear we need a new midfield option, in fact I don't mind as much now this has fallen through because whilst I would've liked a bit more creativity, a physical presence and someone who can cover ground is more important.

Good temporary signing for Liverpool providing he adapts quickly. I'm sticking with the theory that hardly playing for a season, no summer tournament and no Prem experience is going to mean he'll probably just start playing well and it'll be time to go back to Madrid.

i normally agree with you but not this time pal.

arteta, sahin + cazorla. where's the tackler? where's the physical presence? you could argue that we would have switched our tactics to ball retention but in the premier league that doesn't work because it's simply too physical. we tried ball retention tactics a couple of seasons ago but all we had where players having their legs snapped in half and the team losing points away to the likes of birmingham, sunderland and bolton.

if madrid wanted us to pay 70% wages (roughly 70k a week), a loan fee (£4m) and put a ridiculous buy out clause (£14m), then wenger did the right thing in pulling the plug on a player which would have cost £20m+ especially as he's a player we don't really need. he's a luxury not a necessity. we need a DM, someone who can tackle and has physical presence. we need a flamini, not a wilshere.

im hoping this wasn't the only viable option we were gunning for and that wenger is seeking alternatives now this has gone to bed, maybe it was a smokescreen to get the m'vila price lowered? we'll have to wait and see. alternatively, with wilshere back in training as little as 3 weeks away, was spending £20m on a player when we have bigger problems in other areas of the pitch a viable option? personally i think the answers no.

Hes a quality player and far better than Arteta. We could do with as many quality players as we need.

We need creativity in midfield and Sahin would have provided that. Very much was a needed transfer and Wenger pulls out cos he doesnt want to spend a couple of quid more

I would probably say that we need him more than you, or rather you need him less than we do.

It all depends on whether you get someone else in (an outright DM seems to be the obvious choice) or not. If you do, then everyone is happy, if not then questions will be asked.

In any case, I'd rather Sahin on loan for a year than an Adam who may well go after a year anyway...

Who ever said it was, it was never confirmed by us or real it ever was, it was stupid sites like Goal.com who said it was.

But they their is a reason the deal seems to be off who knows why, but if the wages thing is true why should we pay him that when he is on loan stupid really.

City paid Ade's wages when he went on loan to spurs last season tbh way it should be.
