I really do not understand what's going on at the club

A few already wealthy individuals are using it (have used it) to further enrich themselves. They are riding on the back of what this club has achieved in the past for as long as it will carry them. That's the entire club in a nutshell, everything else is shop dressing to conceal the primary objective.

The thing as we all know why it happening whilst Arsenal are gettig the revenue from 60,000 fans per week the board don't really care if we win anything or not, regular fans could say well I won't go for a while but then fans that haven't been able to see Arsenal would snap them up so there would be no difference.
