England manager Roy Hodgson has suggested penalty shootouts should be staged after draws in international friendlies.

The Three Lions have the worst shootout record in international football, with a success rate of just 17 per cent, and were knocked out of Euro 2012 by Italy on spot-kicks.

Hodgson believes practicing penalties in training does not replicate the pressure of a match situation and would like to see the idea introduced.

"It is a very good idea," he told reporters. "We might be able to agree with one of our opponents if the game is a draw that we have a penalty shootout."

The 65-year-old added to Sky Sports: "At least then there is a lot more relevance to a competition at the end of a friendly in front of a big crowd than there is when you are taking penalties day after day in training and watching players quite happily whizz them into the back of the net. And then you have got that long walk with a big crowd."

As well as Euro 2012, England have also suffered penalty shootout heartache at World Cups in 1990, 1998 and 2006, and European Championships in 1996 and 2004. Their only success came in the quarter-final of Euro '96 against Spain.
    Decent idea tbh

Ronaldinho, Oscar & David Luiz named in Brazil squad for England friendly

The 32-year-old makes his return to the international fold for the first time in 12 months, while Julio Cesar, David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar are also included in the 20-man squad

Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari has named Ronaldinho in his 20-man squad for his side's friendly against England in February.

The 32-year-old last appeared for Selecao in February 2012, in a 2-1 friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, but now has the chance of adding to his 94 international caps under new head coach Scolari.

Elsewhere, there are four Premier League-based representatives in the squad, with QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar and Chelsea trio David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar.

Brazil will face England at Wembley Stadium on February 6.

    Brazil squad in full:

    Goalkeepers
    Julio Cesar - QPR
    Diego Alves - Valencia

    Defenders
    Dante - Bayern
    David Luiz - Chelsea
    Miranda - Atletico Madrid
    Leandro Castan - Roma
    Adriano - Barcelona
    Daniel Alves - Barcelona
Felipe Luís - Atlético de Madrid

    Midfielders
    Arouca - Santos
    Hernanes - Lazio
    Ramires - Chelsea
    Oscar - Chelsea
    Lucas - PSG
    Paulinho - Corinthians

    Strikers
    Fred - Fluminense
    Hulk - Zenit
    Neymar - Santos
    Ronaldinho Gaúcho - Atletico-MG
    Luis Fabiano - São Paulo

Didn't realise Ronaldinho was in the Brazil squad this week. I hope he plays, it will be great to see him again.
