He's been the best player on the pitch for us so far this pre-season. Looks like an extremely solid and no-nonsense defender, just what we needed. Wenger has got this right by the look of it. Now he needs to repeat the trick 2-3 more times and we might just have the makings of a defence.

I saw the Cologne game and he was excellent, obviously apart from one fluke. It's a complete novelty watching a player in an Arsenal shirt successfully crossing a ball. Plus a total relief to see an Arsenal defender hitting row Z with a clearance instead of tapping it up four times, trying a back-heeled nutmeg, fucking up and playing the striker clean through.
