Manchester City assistant coach David Platt has been suspended for two matches after being sent off during the Champions League match against Real Madrid, Uefa has confirmed

Platt's punishment comes after he was sent to the stands by Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi during the 1-1 Champions League draw with Real Madrid at the Etihad.

Uefa also announced that City have also been fined 12,000 euros for the improper conduct of the team after picking up five cards or more in the same match.

Platt will be banned for next week's match against Borussia Dortmund and the next European game City are involved in - though he has the right to appeal.

So, on top of his 700k basic, he gets a 20k accommodation allowance?

Sure that's what you get in any football association game, whatever league you're in.

You would have thought they might increment it a bit!

Fake been doing the rounds for a couple weeks
Society is now one polished horde
Formed by two mighty tribes, the bores and the bored.

"After all, it was the Gunners’ goalkeeper who started the move that culminated in Thomas’ crowning glory. It was Lukic who, in injury time, decided to throw the ball out to Lee Dixon rather than lump it long..."

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has taken a swipe at his bitter rival Jose Mourinho, claiming the Special One is shamelessly touting himself around Europe for a new club.

Mancini has had the shadow of Real Madrid manager Mourinho hanging over him since he took the City job in 2009 and their relationship – always strained after Mourinho replaced him at Inter Milan – dipped to a new low when they failed to shake hands after Madrid's recent Champions League draw at The Etihad Stadium, and Mourinho pointedly indicated he would have been sacked in Spain for failing to reach the knockout stages of the tournament. Now, ahead of the final round of Champions League group matches this week, Mancini has had his revenge, sarcastically quipping to suggestions Mourinho would be City's next manager in the summer: 'I am happy'.The Italian then added: 'I read that one day Mourinho is going to PSG, one day he's in Inter, Manchester City, Manchester United, then Chelsea. I think he works well for this.

'It's not important though. This is our job and I don't feel any pressure.'

Mourinho, whose Real side are badly trailing Barcelona in La Liga, walked off the pitch at City a fortnight ago without shaking Mancini's hand.

Mancini won three Serie A titles at Inter but was then trumped by Mourinho who led the club to the Champions League.

Mourinho also sold Mario Balotelli to City, claiming he was 'unmanageable' in contrast to Mancini who has given the young Italian striker several chances to prove himself on and off the pitch.

Mourinho has often spoken of his desire to return to England despite currently holding a long-term contract in Madrid.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has gone on record in the past to say he has the credentials to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. City travel to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday with qualification for the Europa League the best they can hope for.

Dortmund and Madrid have already gone through to the last 16 from the group.
