Chelsea had an unproductive meeting with Ba's representatives according to SSN.

Forget Ba. We should sign up Theo, we have Giroud whose in good form, if things were to get tight we could play Podolski up front and I'm pretty sure he's capable of banging in goals.

We need a DM and another winger.

Theo is off though.. if he stays, that'll be a miracle. We might as well stop playing him tbh.
Arsene Wenger, the only football manager that got paid 8 million quid to do nothing but sit on his arse..

It makes no sense to sell Theo for peanuts or allow him to walk on a free and then sign someone else and pay around £70k - £90k in wages. It's sensless. If it's about money then it makes no sense to sign a new striker. We'd end up spending millions in fees/ agent fees plus wages when a fraction of that total sum could have been used to sigh Theo up. Cutting your nose to spite your face.

    Agreed.

Though, in an age where player power is at it's peak, we should also respect the club for being able to say no. We can only speculate what the figures being talked about are, but one would assume we are saying what Theo is asking for is too high.

Despite the stupidity of paying crap like Bendtner and Co. silly money, we have to draw the line somewhere and stand up to merceneries.

Walcott may be reasonable (as much as a greedy footballer can be these days), we don't know. But Whilst this should be put to bed, I don't advocate paying Wally any more than he deserves. At some point you have to stop spreading your arse cheeks for these little shitbags and say no. No matter how costly it may be on the football side.

We've made a rod for our own backs in some ways. But if he is demanding too much, then surely we have the right to refuse those demands?

    Agree with LDG.

The only reason he hasn't signed is obviously about the money. If the difference between our offer and his demands was relatively small, I'm sure a deal would have been worked out, so you have to assume that he's asking for wages way in excess of what we're willing (or able) to pay.

The only other option is that he just doesn't want to stay. In which case, fuck him.

Reports say he is holding out for around £100k a week. The difference between that and £75k a week is £1.3m a year. How can we not afford an extra £1.3m a year? It makes no sense to let him walk on a free and then pay around £20m for a new player plus wages and fees. Plus we are not an island. If you want a a top striker, they won't come cheap. The type of players we require aren't cheap and if we still think what we offer is good enough we will continue to bleed players.

The club probably think paying him the extra £1.3m would be giving in to player power. Like any business, our owners hate it when the workers get one over them because in their minds it opens the floodgates and makes it harder to depress wages in the future.
