I was at Aston Villa v Arsenal in the 80's when he (Tony Woodcock) scored 5 goals! We won 6-2 that day!

The other goal was scored by a young curly haired Brian McDermott (Old Reading Manager).

    Shit, I am old!

Gunners scouts have watched Cornelius over ’10 times’

Posted in Arsenal News | Written by Chris Wheatley

Arsenal are ready to step-up their interest in FC Copenhagen youngster Andreas Cornelius, according to reports in Denmark

The Gunners’ have sent Scandinavia-based scout Bobby Bennett to watch the Danish striker in action ‘over 10 times’.

Highly-rated Cornelius, who has scored 14 goals in 20 matches for Copenhagen this season, has revealed his delight at being scouted by a club as big as Arsenal.

“This is obviously a pat on the back for me knowing that such a big club is watching me. And if they’ve seen me so many times, it shows you it is not just a coincidence”, Cornelius said.

“I do not think about it, because I have a long contract at FC Copenhagen and have developed really well there. As long as there is nothing concrete, then I think only about FC Copenhagen.”

6ft 4in frontman Cornelius has been rather worryingly dubbed the ‘next Nicklas Bendtner’ due to his excellent technique and astute aerial ability.

The 19-year-old is tied to FCK until 2016 and this week it was revealed Manchester United had a bid of €5 million turned down for him last year.

Ahh, I remember when we first signed him, I was so excited, especially after we signed him before the world cup in 06, and when he scored that goal against USA. He has the ability but sadly injuries didn't help. I'd still have him on our bench though.
