Arsenal are set to go head-to-head with Manchester City for Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic.
The 23-year-old, who will be in action against England on Tuesday evening, has scored 12 goals in 24 appearances in Serie A this season.
talkSPORT have been told Fiorentina are resigned to losing the Montenegro hitman this summer and the Gunners are prepared to match the Italian side’s £28million valuation.
The Arsenal hierarchy are set to loosen the purse strings and back boss Arsene Wenger in the transfer market this summer in a bid to end their eight-year trophy drought.
Jovetic currently earns £65,000 per week and Arsenal are willing to offer up to £90,000 per week to tempt him to north London.
Manchester City, however, are also keen as Roberto Mancini looks to reshape his strike force next season and could rival Wenger's men for the Montenegrin.

As a great man once said

"He's not bad, wouldn't be my first choice, wouldn't be prolific that's for sure."

Maybe we can show him our collection of 4th place trophies to impress him, major trophies are what a lot of top players are interested in after all?

We can also tell him he'll become a better midfielder if he signs for us?

Diego Costa would quickly go up to King of the Scrotes in the Prem. On that basis:

    Sign him up, Arsene.

Bayern Munich are edging Juventus and Barcelona in the race to sign Liverpool's Luis Suarez - because incoming boss Pep Guardiola's BROTHER is Anfield player's agent (Daily Mail)
Manchester City's Sergio Aguero could be subject to a Real Madrid part-exchange move involving Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain. (Daily Star)

Easily the biggest must get we won't get.

Will be good bit of business which ever way for both clubs, tbh. Really hope our name will be in the mix one day with these high profile player moves.

Love Suarez. Exactly what we need.

Don't worry, as soon as we move in to the emirates, we can compete with the big clubs for these players...oh wait

When Pep was at Barca it was NAILED ON that Suarez would go there as his agent was Pep's brother.

He's going to go to whoever offers him the most money, since the offers will likely be the same type of teams (fighting for the CL and title), and which country he likes the look of.

I just hope we don't accept £30-odd million because it'd be a decent profit. Squeeze every last drop out of them...

    Jovetic con't:

Toni: 'Jovetic, Arsenal not a top club'

    By Football Italia staff

Luca Toni has advised Stevan Jovetic to ignore Arsenal’s calls, for “they are not better than Fiorentina. If he has to leave, make it for a real top club.”

The World Cup winning striker is well-travelled, securing titles with Bayern Munich, and nearing the end of his career.

Viola teammate Jovetic admitted today he is tempted by proposals from the Gunners, but Toni warns it would not be a step up.

“I tell him to think carefully before leaving Florence, as there is an important project here,” Toni told ANSA news agency.

“If he has to leave, then make it for a real top club. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United fit that bill, but Arsenal are not better than Fiorentina.

“We’ll talk about my own contract renewal over the next few weeks. There are no problems for me or the club and I think we’ll resolve the issue within a month.”

Luca Toni is a massive ****, but still, it's hard to disagree with his sentiments.
