The story is so outlandish you just have to hope it's more made up media BS. If we're actually showing interest in Rooney then you just know we're not serious this summer. We have zero chance of signing him and this better not gather anymore steam. Seems like we're being lead up a blind alley and it's another eloborate PR stunt to get the bums on seats for the pre season and season ticket renewals in. This isn't a realisitic signing.
agreed. its a load of shit. we aint signing £20m players, it's just another ray of false smoke so those wankers on the board can pocket more money through renewals. happens every year.

I don't want us to waste a summer with useless pursuits. For starters, we'll most likely haggle on transfer fee and once that hurdled is settled, we'd have to agree personal terms. It's not going to happen. How long did it take us to sort out Theo's contract? Are we now supposed to believe we'll blow £20m+ and £250k in wages on a player that's 27?

    I can see that.

Theyre probably thinking the 20-25 million it would take to get no-names like jovetic and higuain could get a huge name like rooney. More bang for the buck.

    I think we want him.

As good as Shrek is when he's motivated, he's still liable to do something stupid. On or off the pitch. Wenget wouldn't sign a combustible player like him. And even if the club were to suddenly loosen the purse strings, I don't think they'd lose their senses and years of conservatism in one fell swoop by splashing out unreasonable amounts on Wazza.

This story is ridiculous, even by the tabloids' usual standards.

We really should have gone for Wazza when he left Everton.

Especially after that amazing goal he scored against us, when we were locked at 1-1 vs Everton, which resulted in us losing 1-2.

Think he was only 17 then.

That was a painstaking loss, I tell you.

Maybe. . .but I dont he would still be with us

Plus he probably saw how easy it was to score against us and thought he'd have a bit more of that
