we should compare stats to giroud after 5 or more seasons, because with competition for places as utd have always had and not always being the main striker, he's scored a fuck load of goals. giroud as the main man would struggle to keep up his current ratio.

his achievements are very easily dismissed, mainly because he's a **** that plays for a **** team and he's a **** off the pitch too. he's never reached the heights expected and that has clouded a lot of other fans perception of how great he still is in this league.

he's an excellent premiership player. not the same level as rvp as you say but then again, very few are. higwayne isn't at the moment.

Rooney has done it at this level far longer than RVC.

I don't think he's as good as he should have been but I'd still take him

Don't look at gay little stats. What he's good at isn't measured by goals. And assists don't measure anything but fantasy football points. Just look at him as a footballer. You kick the ball to him, you get instant control and a guarantee that he'll play the best option. Our football is fucking embarrassing atm, and that's because we can't build moves, and that's because our forward line can't control slightly awkward balls. Rooney is an exceptional footballer. He would play in the same 'free role' position as Cesc did and he'd kick arse at it too. Guaranteed. But we should go for higgy because he's also top notch.

Before RVC went mental Rooney was arguably the best player in the league. He's incredibly driven and very selfless as well, I know many on here like a player who puts the team first and Wazza does just that. He would probably even be our 2nd best defender after Kos if you asked him to play at the back.

I can understand the reservations about him because lets face it, he's a ****, but with regards to his ability there is no doubt in my mind he is little bit good.

It won't happen anyway, so meh.

Okay, you've sold me on Rooney.

Only one problem left then - he's never, ever, ever, ever, coming here because we would never, ever, ever pay the cost.

Plus I've changed my mind anyway and he;s a complete **** who would stink up the whole place with his utter ****ishness.

Years of underinvestment have left people desperate for almost any big signing. But if you're wanting us to spunk the bulk of our theoretical warchest on a waning fattening asshole who's style of game means his fitness and therefore effectiveness wanes faster than his peers, you are beyond hope.

Even pretending we have ownership and management willing to make full use of our resources, this would be a criminal waste of them.
If you don’t send this signature to ten people, you will become a Spurs fan.

    This.

It's not going to happen so no point arguing whether Arsenal are mad to be trying to sign one of the best strikers in the league.

Wenger supposedly named Rooney as his favourite player a year or so ago at some Q and A. So if he's available then I'd say we'd be in for him.

We will be proven right when he reaches 28 years old.

I hear you. If he can openly defy Fergie and question Man Utd's ambition, then he'd run Wenger ragged. I'd like to think he'd work hard and be a great signing but I get the feeling we'd be signing a player on the verge breaking down.
