Yeah Swansea bought Bony () for £12m , Shelvey for £6m () , and have spent near £20m on those 2.
Southampton bought Wanyama for £12m aswell

Could well be BS, but 3 million Euros for a donkey noone rates seem reasonable to be fair, more realistic than us making record bids for players who would never sign for us I guess.

In many ways the Barry signing would be perfect:

1) Cheap
2) Has been nobody else wants
3) Can play in different positions (defence and midfield), thus saving us more money on signings for other positions in future
4) Won't hinder progress of any kids
5) Would be a way of p*ssing off the fans and sticking two fingers up at them

Surely the board wont turn round and say, after a summer of signing nobody of note, "We tried to sign Higuain, Suarez, Rooney etc, you can't blame us for not trying". Surely they don't think the fans are that stupid to buy the bullshit??

I can't for the life of me see why we would be willing to bid 35/40million for Jaws when for around 10-15 million less we could go a long why in securing a deal for Huigain for say 25 million, who I'd prefer out of the two

Assuming those bids are indeed real (i'm sceptical), we know we won't get Suarez so it's a safe bid, upping our bid for Higuain would probably secure him. This scenario would then require us to pay up and we're not keen on this.

Failed bids however look good to the fans and will allow us to secure cheaper players safe in the knowledge that people will believe we tried to make big signings.
