It says a lot about football these days when 40 million pounds is dismissed as a joke bid and not serious.
40 million pounds? To dismiss that amount of money as a joke bid says a lot about modern football
The 40million +1 bid has worked a treat so far then. Liverpool are right to hold out, its up to us to pay up. Dein more than likely would have sewn the transfer up already. Our transfer dealings are a modern day embarassment.
They can still turn around and say we tried to bring in top class players and put in big bids but unfortunately the clubs did not want to sell, people will buy it believe me, they have for many years before this and this won't change anything.
IMO Suarez was never a realistic target, the money involved, the fact Liverpool don't want to sell, the timing of the deal (late on making it harder for Liverpool to find a replacement), the fact we haven't won a trophy in years (how will that appeal to Suarez), the fact the likes of Real would be a preferable for a player like him (if he did by some miracle sign for us he'd delay his chance of moving to a top top club longer) and the fact he wanted to leave England.
So much about this transfer just doesn't make sense.
