It is ludicrous.

The only logic suggests that someone told Arsene Wenger or Ivan Gazidis about the so-called clause and they believed it. Perhaps a little thinking through might have stopped them making fools of themselves. Even I worked it out.

One Arsenal mate of mine suggested it was done to de-stabilise Suarez. If so, what are Arsenal scared of Liverpool for? This week Wenger said he’s “ready to spend.” Why hasn’t he been ready all summer? What is he waiting for?

It seems the Gunners put a lot of effort into this Suarez bid and then got mugged off.

What’s Wenger’s plan B? Nicklas Bendtner? Meantime, where’s the new 'keeper? The new centre-half? A midfielder? There is a week to go until the season kicks off and Wenger is sitting on a fortune.

At least no star players left this summer. Probably because they don’t have them anymore.

At what point did we think we'd get Suarez for £40mill plus a quid? At no point, which was the whole point.

This is how we should've dealt with RvP.

I agree that we would have been better off making RvP see out his contract, but this is different given the length of time Suarez has left on his. Liverpool's hand is much stronger than ours was last year.

If we had made RvP see out his contract, he would surely have signed a new deal once he saw the enormous warchest we now have aligned to our well developed transfer strategy.

40M is a fair bid for Suarez, hardly laughable as Liverpool are claiming. He's a troublemaker, will miss the first 6 games of the season and actively wants to leave them, so a bid around 10M less than Cavani (who was more prolific last season) is fair enough.

They're posturing in the press to increase the fee, they will sell if we raise our bid. Henry said something similar before Torres left. It's never good to keep a player that is unhappy as it will probably show in their performances, which is why we were right to sell RVP and Liverpool will sell Suarez if they're intelligent enough (although given their signings so far this season I doubt this...)

If they were smart, they would sell him and get a new striker in like jackson martinez, who can actually play the first 6 games... They cant score goals without suarez, so apparently they have no plan for the first 6 games.

and what would we have if we signed if for the first 6 games?

As for selling, they're in a strong postion as mentioned, he's got plenty of time on his contract and it's World Cup year, he'll play when he doesn't get his move, nothing smart about letting mercernary players walk all over you and do as they wish, the more clubs that do this the more these players will realise they can't just walk away when they feel like it.

If we were smart we should buy jackson martinez who can actually play in the 1st 6 games. Plus we can have change left over

I'm pretty convinced they won't sell, or at least not to us, it would really hurt their CL chances strengthening a rival and weakening themselves.

    This transfer is dead.
