At what point did Arsenal think they could get Luis Suarez just by making an offer of £40,000,001? Liverpool may not be as great as they used to be but they are no longer run by idiots. This is a club that sold a striker for £50,000,000 in the last few years, so why would anyone think they would agree to a clause allowing a striker to leave as soon as a bid of less than that comes in? It is ludicrous.
The only logic suggests that someone told Arsene Wenger or Ivan Gazidis about the so-called clause and they believed it. Perhaps a little thinking through might have stopped them making fools of themselves. Even I worked it out.
One Arsenal mate of mine suggested it was done to de-stabilise Suarez. If so, what are Arsenal scared of Liverpool for? This week Wenger said he’s “ready to spend.” Why hasn’t he been ready all summer? What is he waiting for?
It seems the Gunners put a lot of effort into this Suarez bid and then got mugged off.
What’s Wenger’s plan B? Nicklas Bendtner? Meantime, where’s the new 'keeper? The new centre-half? A midfielder? There is a week to go until the season kicks off and Wenger is sitting on a fortune.
At least no star players left this summer. Probably because they don’t have them anymore.
