An average squad has now been paired with an average manager. Add in a disastrous transfer window and it's turning out quite well. The best thing is that they can't see it. They've ridden out the last few years with a combination of having the best manager ever, and a comparatively weak league... sorry BLitW.

Sadly they're such a behemoth that they can turn this around pretty quickly. Hopefully they "give him time" and drown themselves in the quicksand of mediocrity.

RVC's individual brilliance (thanks a lot Wenger ), Ferguson's genius and Mancini's incompetence really masked their collective squad failings last season.

I watched all of the second of their game against WBA and for all the talk about their midfield being weak, I thought their defence was even more of a shambles. Rio is past it, dunno where the fuck Vidic is but he's getting on in years and Smalling & Evans are only really good enough to be 3rd/4th choice starters for a PL winning team. Jones was awful at RB (jack of all trades, master of none) and Buttner isn't good enough yet to replace the declining Evra. Worst of all the organistaion and defensive rigidity we've come to associate with United just wasn't there. They need a major overhaul next summer, at least two new top quality faces there and perhaps a new defensive coach (Gary Neville?).

An even bigger is that I read that Moyes had the chance of keeping around a few of Fergie's staff members, but told them to piss off and kept his mediocre Everton coaches with him. Even having 1 member from Fergie's team would help, he has no idea what he's doing
