I rather think the fact that he's only just come back from injury had a big part in it as well, although Jenko/Sagna is probably better defensively for an away game; I thought Traore looked pretty solid in pre-season and with Sagna proving competent there and Vermaelen as an option, I can see why we're not investing there.

In his interview last night he did insinuate we're good enough even if we don't sign anyone.

He didn't guarantee we would a sign anyone, he said we will try.

I'm pretty sure he still wants the guys he wanted before that match, nothing new was thrown up in terms of player performances. What did he say to insinuate we were good enough? He praised the team after a good win but that's pretty standard.

Wenger's deluded if he thinks we should read so much into last night's performance. We could see defensively we still need reinforcements, because although the fullbacks looked good, Djourou was extremely uncomfortable and was responsible for losing Di Natale for their goal. At the moment, I only trust Vermaelen out of all our central defenders, and we can't go into the season with only one reliable centre half.

My take on last night is that the penalty save changed the game, before that Udinese were giving us all kinds of problems, the save broke their spirit and they never recovered.

Until then they were giving us all kinds of problems and let's not forget this is only Udinese who cam 4th in Serie A and lost 3 of their best players in the summer.

We can't go over the top with this result, we strengthening because against better sides we'll get pulled apart.

To be fair to Wenger, Jenkinson looks solid at RB (even if we have to move Sagna to LB) so if we sign someone like Cahill he'll see us as having Sagna, Vermaelen, Traore and Gibbs for the position.

Our fullbacks have been fine this season, most of their chances came from the unstable midfield and the CBs not being settled (Djourou constantly losing his marker).

If we got a beast of a striker reckon we could up goals from set pieces and crosses too cos Jenkinson's crossing is top notch.

We work very hard on it I said that many times but we have as well many players out don't forget the team who played tonight if you look at the players who were out who are top class players I think we can be very positive as well.

He's good but he wasnt Moronho's buy and quiet sure he was never in Moronho plans either. Madrid is nearly as good as Barca IMO.
