If the best you can come up with is a lame joke and critique that he is "not perfect", other than admit you were wrong, the best thing you could do would be to shut up about him. For now at least.
Of course, with the season being long, no doubt at some point Merts will make a mistake with him not being perfect and all. Why not wait before posting so you can declare yourself right?.
I feel bad for getting on his back last season. He did struggle a bit at first and I initially thought he wouldn't be able to handle the pace of the premier league and our high line defence system. Boy has he proved me and all of his doubters wrong. He, along with Koscielny, was instrumental in our run of results at the end of last season and in our start to this season. He's a fucking beast and probably my favourite player ATM.

We've finally found ours. Mertescielny. They can lead us to glory.
He's the sort of player we've needed for a while. Intelligent and defends with positioning and reading danger over reacting and hoping pace will bail you out. The combination with Kos has worked well.
he's also an organizer.
