Actually he said in the show last night he wanted someone at Arsenal to show him they wanted him to stay, they didn't so he agreed to leave. Arsenal had already accepted the offer which says it all really.

I watched the show last night, he talked about it, he said he left because noone at the club came to him to try and persuade him to stay on, we'd accepted the offer and that's a clear indication to a player that a club is happy to see him leave. I'm not ignoring the quote, I heard it from the horse's mouth last night, you should watch it.
Prefer to go by words I can see a player speak as opposed to a random quote.

amazing how you blame the club for not fighting to keep him but completely let him off the hook despite trying to leave every year. he even admitted the deal was done with madrid but he backed out not because he wanted to stay but because he was worried he wouldn't get enough attention. contradicting yourself as always ximm
