No the equivalent would be Wenger buying someone, that player being the clubs best player for two seasons, then a new manager turning up and thinking he is the best thing ever and benching said best player because he likes to look in control and powerful.

Mata was chelseas best player last season and the season before. the fans voted him that honour too. he's a regular for spain, improves any side greatly if he plays for them. what happens if mata gets untied top four football and in the summer players decide they want united over chelsea? mourinho is left having sold his best player, strengthened a rival and helped further strengthen them by allowing the mata signing to convince others to go to united.

The special one, clearly doesn't fancy Mata and it is clear he isn't all that bothered about the fact that when he came there Mata was their best player. I tend to look critically at the benching of Mata but he has got away with it because Chelsea are within touching distance and the popularisation of the view that Mata slows the play down (which I think has been quite overstated).

From Mourinho's point of view he has made a fortune on a player he didn't rate, but from Chelsea's point of view they are most certainly weaker (as a squad), which can't really be argued against.

Quite comically it may still not be enough to ensure that they win anything or that they finish in the top 4, though Moyes' teams traditionally finish well.

easily the same as Mata though their real value wouldn't be 45 million. i think both are worth 30-35 million. id say both are the same level as each other, equal in everything.

Yeah, they both seem to be on par with each other for me too, especially when Santi has played in the centre rather than out wide as he has done this season. Chelsea are lucky that United are desperate though.

I just hope United fail this season, that £45m along with the CL money loss will result in their best players leaving.

Mata doesn't fit into his team, whether he was the best player in the previous two seasons is irrelevant, Mourinho has a proven record who who are we to argue with his decisions. At the moment Mata doesn't play, if he's not going to play him why not recoup 45 million and spend it on someone that will play?

Chelsea have enough pull without having to worry about Man U signing players they want to be honest.

No chance, Mata is 25 Cazorla is 29.

Cazorla is a top player but Mata is more of a goal threat, IMO that would attract a slight premium.

NOTE: The location of this post has been moved and the thread title (which was previously Wenger is Leaving) has been manipulated by a notorious pro-Wenger moderator. What was previously a message that contained no profanity and made a comment on a real life event has now been manipulated by a deliberately provocative title. An old and crude propaganda and censorship technique.

If we're being honest too....had Wenger benched RvP the year before he flogged him to the devils and in spite of that challenged for the title, the decision to sell him would have been much less frowned upon.

RvP was much more important for us back then than Mata is for Chelsea....and incidentally, RvP is a much better player than Mata.

mata has fitted into every team he has played in, including a champions league winning side, a world cup winning side too. Managers like Arsene etc all wanted to sign him yet mourinho is the only one who doesn't rate him? id say most would argue with his decision except you, its difficult to argue with mourinho when you have his cock in your mouth
