In fairness to Wenger it was mainly the part where he said 'why didn't they sell him last week' that made him sound silly. Why on earth would Chelsea sell him in time for him to face Chelsea. Nobody in Chelsea's position would do that, not least of all ourselves.

The special one will always bite though.....he's built like that.

I don't see why Wenger had to bite and mention 'fairness'. It's not as if the window isn't open for everybody. He's not an idiot and knows when to be coy, when to duck a question or to flip it. He should have avoided that one without having to make another statement about the transfer window.

Wenger made this point weeks ago and should have probably left it at that. His recent point about Mata is slightly absurd.

We could sign Draxler (go with me here) and teams who have to play us a second time could complain that teams who have already played us twice didn't have to face Draxler........but that would be rather silly.

FFS guys he was asked a question at his press conference and he answered it truthfully as he always does. He didn't say that the move was illegal, or shouldn't go ahead or that Chelsea were wrong ......... just that it's not fair on us, which is completely true. We're at a disadvantage as we're going to face a much stronger Man Utd team than Chelsea did, which relates to Wenger's general dislike of the January window.

Mourinho as usual couldn't resist taking a pop shot at Wenger and us because he's a petty little man who for some reason has an odd vendetta against us. Had Ferguson, Moyes or someone else at United, made those comments he'd be queueing up to agree with it.

Actually Wenger MOST recently made the point about (what is effectively) the abolishment of the January window recently. If he made the point years ago too, that would not surprise me.

The fact that the comment that I highlighted in your quote was nothing to do with the Mata deal is very point I was making......deary me. I was alluding to the fact that Wenger should have not been drawn into commenting on the Mata deal at all but that his general feeling that the window should be 'completely open or completely closed' is quite valid.

I see it as Wenger taking a pop at Chelsea and Jose. It was sly. He's media savy enough to know that's the sort of question you side step.

Also, why is he worried about Man Utd gaining an extra player from Chelsea. If Mourinho is trying to ruffle feathers with that move it shoes he's gotten to Wenger. He should have just played that one cool. No need to invite shots back from Jose because Wenger will lose that sort of battle.

I understood your comment fine, but i think you misunderstood my comment. The part you highlighted was partly about when Wenger last summer said that he thinks the transfer window should close before the league starts and partly about Mourinho saying that Wenger was okay with a late transfer window because he got Özil.
