Exactly. It's a systematic fault of how Wenger sets up his teams rather than the fault of one indivudual. It's stupid to think that the return of just one player will solve the issue.
Still think Flamini is far better for us compared to Arteta over the season.
Flamini and Arteta are both well below the standard we need for that position.

Tbf to Arteta, he isn't a CDM, and Flamini isn't as he was in 08
Both have their limitations, Flamini running about like a maniac can have its benefits but ultimately it's still going to leave us with a big gap in midfield if we don't select the right people around and he's more than likely to get himself suspended. It's why I think Gibbs is the better option in the bigger games, he has the recovery pace that Monreal does not.
They both have glaring weaknesses, definitely. Would anyone take Song back?
Flamini was getting a lot of praise earlier on in the season, not convinced he's ever been good enough, couldn't get a game at Milan and they were happy to let him leave which says a lot given Milan's level these days.
Generally you get what you pay for on the whole, he was free.

Ha!! Lest we forget all his defensive problems. Even with our current issues we're definitely better right now than with him - you just need to look at the table.
Anyway, the good thing is that in our pursuit of a DM a the start of the window last summer it does seem that Wenger is looking to fix this. Need to go all out for Lars Bender again.
