Liverpool are having a great season, congrats to them. Then they need to have a great season next year, and the year after and the year after that. But will they? Big projects to come yet for Liverpool if they want sustained rather than sporadic success. All it will take is a swish of a chequebook to dismantle that team if they can't keep the players in the luxury they have become accustomed to. Athletico are doing great in Spain too, but they face all the same problems Liverpool face here. It's a bit like not being drowned by the first tidal wave and there's only seven more behind it. Liverpool will have to get some flood defences in if they want to stay above the likes of the chavs or the gypos on a consistent basis. That's what we have been doing and that's why CL football remains very important to our plans.

We got our swish chequebook out last summer, didn't manage to dismantle their team however, the player has to be intent on leaving as well.

Liverpool are a massive club and despite not being in the CL been able to sign some good players. United wi'll be the same despite not being in the CL next year. We will be in that boat too. We are a massive club too, chavs and city throw money around but so do we but we have wasted millions on wages which always gets ignored when people talk about wengera frugal nature. Hence bendtner still being around, and players contracts having to be run for people to leave. At one point we were spending 1m more a week than spuds on salaries yet we finished the season only just ahead of them. That's not value for money.

People think it's some amazing achievement that we can compete against these money bag clubs but each game only 11 players can be on the pitch at one time and our budget is massive compared with about 90% of the division. We never overachieve, just do the bare minimum. If that's something to be proud of then fine but the fans pay the most money and should get something better in return.

The only advantage of the CL is the money, but we don't use the CL to attract players and the money is just used to pay the players and manager. If we fell out of the CL spots, it will not be a traumatic experience apart from playing Thursdays. There are enough revenue streams to cope with the loss and the sort of players we target will be joining arsenal for being arsenal not because we are playing CL football.

I do think we will finish 4th as don't think we will lose to Everton.

Need to make sure we have absolutely no mathematical chance of winning the league first though, so this one might be a close thing
