    ----------- Hart ---------

    --Johnson Cahill Jags Shaw---

    ----- Gerrard ---- Henderson ----

    Sterling ---- Barkley ----- Chambo

    ------------ Sturridge -----------

Basically try and replicate Liverpool as much as possible i.e. sit back and counter with pace.

Field the youngsters. They go in with no fear and worst come scenario they gain experience for future tournaments.

Drop Rooney. He is fucking shite for England. Plus when you try and fit Rooney in it unbalances the team a lot.

Can Roy implement exciting tactics to complement an exciting young squad? Doubt it. How much would Liverpool charge for us to take Brendan for a summer?

He flatters to deceive and has made a career of doing so at international level for the best part of 10 years. However, he only scored 4 less than Sturridge in the league (Sturridge's best season by far) in a pretty dire Manure team this season so I would reluctantly have to find a place for him.

Even if you can argue he is second to Sturridge he is comfortably better than any other forward.

In an ideal world I'd pair Gerrard in a 2 with Wilshere but Jack hasn't played nearly enough or nearly well enough when he has. I would want to put Chamberlain where Sterling will almost definitely play ideally, but Sterling has really impressed beyond the point he can be easily ignored, though I think Chamberlain is actually the better player.

    ----------------Hart---------------

    Johnson---Cahill---Jagielka---Baines

    -------Gerrard--------Barkley-------

    Sterling-------Rooney-------Lallanna

    --------------Sturridge-------------

It's a difficult one, given Gerrard is undroppable as captain and Rooney is just undroppable because he's Rooney.

I'd prefer Gerrard to have a bit more running cover, if he's going to be the deepest midfielder. Barkley is good but his natural instinct is to bound forward, which is fine if the covering midfielder(s) has the legs but Gerrard doesn't and the defence will just be left horribly exposed. I think he needs someone like Henderson who can go box to box and maybe have someone like Lallana to give a bit more creativity but who isn't afraid to defend as well. Having players buzzing about helps no end. Rooney will drop deep, but he tends to do it solely down the middle and since Hodgson has already said he wants him and Sturridge to form a partnership I think there needs to be someone in there who can provide proper width. Sterling ended up playing in a sort of #10 role for us, but Rooney will have that to himself so I guess his place would be on the wing. The problem is that our attack was based on fluidity and movement. When you have a player (Rooney) just running in straight lines up and down the pitch that fluidity can grind to a halt.

And though we (Liverpool) did look to quick counters, I wouldn't say we really preferred to sit back. We tried to blast teams out of the way from the start and went from there. When we sat back we invariably dropped too deep and it didn't really work. And the problem with trying to emulate us, apart from our ridiculous defensive record was that England don't have Suarez. And that's a pretty big gap to fill.

He'd be an excellent sub to bring on.

That's the problem, same type of baggage every tournament. We have no chance of winning it so I can't see why we don't just go with a more dynamic team of hungry kids. It would make it entertaining, it would get people talking about the team. We'd still lose but it would be fun.

Oh yes, it's Roy Hodgson, the antithesis of fun, another boring old fart arse who is terrified of the media louts.
