Don't think any of those options were viable.
1) Mandzukic isn't better than Giroud.
2) We could never get Costa considering Chelsea wanted him and he has the same agent as Mourinho. That's a moot point.
3) Ballotelli's issues are well known - he's a ticking time bomb. Would be a cancer to the harmonious dressing room Wenger's developed.
L'Equipe says that Giroud is out for 3 months, pretty much confirmed then? What a f*cking mess, none of us even wanted him as our starting striker and now we don't have him! Sad thing is we don't have one player that can come in and do a credible job. We have had 3 windows to sort out Centre-forward position and have done absolutely nothing, what now? Judging by who we are linked with we are left with the dregs....Welbeck? Eto'o? Remy? Cerci?

No one for certain who would have been categorically better than Giroud which is exactly the problem we faced.
This time last season we all new we needed a DM & a proper striker. 3 transfer windows later, we have Artera & Giroud out with injury ( who both should be squad players ) & we have Flamini & Sonogo as direct replacements - Are we really trying to compete?
