Because he generally has fuck all to hit. Himself and Alexis spend half the match trading it with each other on the left and looking up in vain to see if anyone is within walking distance of the box. And he doesn't tend to beat his man down the line, he beats him centrally with a turn into space. Your main bitch about him seems to be he can't singlehandedly rescue this broken team. Alexis often does. The goal he scored last week was an example because under tight conditions and marked he could have easily tried to play a one touch pass back to Ozil but instead took a risk.

Ozil is more than capable of pulling that off. Capable of more than just passing. Just needs to be brave.
