If I had to guess, it's just a Red Bull gamble. If they sort their shit out, Red Bull can take them on. If they don't, well it's just Toro Rosso.

F1 wants to keep Honda in the game. Don't know why, but I heard it mentioned by several commentators during Monza. All sorts of fees and licenses and backhanders I suppose. Red Bull has probably received something in return. Anyway, you know how it works in F1. Next season Renault might be shite and Honda will have had a whole season to get their act in order. Wouldn't surprise me at all if McLaren still end up with the shittiest engine.

If that happens I think Alonso will jump out of a window.

So Honda for Red Bull too?Red Bull are facing up to the prospect of losing both their star drivers, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, after Renault told the team they will not supply them with engines beyond next season.
Renault's unexpected decision – revealed by MailOnline yesterday – also raises the possibility of Red Bull's Austrian billionaire owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, growing so tired of a barren run that he could even decide to pull out of Formula One.

Took too long to become in any way competitive.British driver Jolyon Palmer is facing a fight to save his Formula One career after it was confirmed that he will be replaced by Carlos Sainz at Renault next season.
