Agreed. I am sitting here in my garden enjoying the sunshine and keep asking myself if this is real.

After years of discussion the day has finally come.

This is clearly some new use of the word 'discussion' I was not aware of.

I have no doubt Wenger leaving was one of the reasons Ozil was persuaded to sign on. Its a pity Gazidis and co were not decisive enough to see the way clear and keep Sanchez too. I imagine a front 3 of Alexis, Auba and Laca with Ozil behind them?

Really? I thought that initially but the way everyone including Ozil have reacted I'm not so sure. The board + Wenger himself genuinely believed he would stay and it seemed that way until the past 72 hours where everything flip turned 180.

Things were indeed getting stale in the last year or two and it is time for him to move on, but this is simply because everything needs refreshing to avoid stagnating. I find a lot of the comments made elsewhere by so-called fans disgraceful and ungrateful, given what this man has done for our club. I hope that we can win the EL this season to enable him to leave on a high and leave his follower with CL football as well as the PL. Mind you, whoever takes over is taking on a big challenge to match Arsene's legacy.

I hope the stadium will be full of cheering fans when he comes out for his final few games at the Arsenal.

I thank him for everything he has done for us and wish him all the best for the future (which I suspect will be as the France manager after the WC).

    Just watching Football Focus back.

Keown: David Dein brought David Wenger to the club.
