I get for us the centre mids are there for stability more than anything, but I would have loved to have seen him playing giveafuck football. You could always tell his first instinct for us was not put us in the shit, incase a pass went awry or we were caught short (though frankly his shooting was generally fucking terrible) but he can do pretty much everything; press, skill, technique, calmness, fitness, defence, creativity. He's really is very, very good, and I don't blame him one jot for going after the money for his last big contract.

He's one of those players that improves with age, too. He seems as fit as ever. If he plays higher up the pitch for PSG, he'll probably be getting loads of +1s like he did at PSV and Newcastle.

Doesn't Curtis Jones have a similar all-round game? He's always looked impressive in most games I've seen him play. Might not be a huge loss if Klopp gives him a chance more regularly.

As well you know, Milner can play there too.
