It's not like there was some big push from clubs for this bollocks competition, it was imposed from on high by a corrupt organisation guzzling Saudi cash.

They could've refused to participate I guess, but that's above the manager's pay grade and who knows what sanctions could've been imposed.

I don't think it's about sanctions, most club owners would want to do it for the money plain and simple, even if it's short-sighted because it damages their following season
