Also we can infer from this that Mrs Letter’s given name is not Peggy
So Tony Adams it seems doesn’t rate Arteta highly, on one hand he wasn’t especially a great manager himself and that’s putting it mildly. On the other hand, the guy was captain for 14 years and this idea that leadership is fundamentally different now than it was in his day feels like bullshit to me.
He knows Odegaard isn’t a leader on the pitch, where as Rice is, despite what is taken as unreasonable criticism by myself that he’s not an 8….his work rate, the fact that games where he has been poor are few and far between and his body language and actions on the pitch show this. Odegaard might be a nice guy and might be a good guy to have around the dressing room, but we had Rob Holding as a mascot we don’t need another one
And to anyone who thinks in reverse ferreting on Rice, think again. I wouldn’t have signed him, he’s not quick or technical enough for me (even with the two worldy free kicks he scored) and he’s definitely not a quick enough at passing or enough of a dribbler to pull defenders out of position when a low block is being set up. The double pivot with Zubimendi should prove interesting, but I’m yet to be convinced that it will undo obdurate teams (though i would definitely play them both on Sunday)
Saw this earlier and it's definitely no news that Odegaard is pretty average captain material.
While Rice would make a far better captain than Odegaard, I'd still rate Gabi ahead of him.
Its funny though a minute ago I was watching this video on youtube on some of our altercations and its so obvious how bad a leader Odegaard is as he only starts popping up halfway through the video, while it's the same usual suspects protecting and diffusing tension every time.
Dunno about Gabriel, he’s often too easily provoked….that and to be honest there are times when he’s not a great communicator. I know Portuguese and Spanish are different languages, but especially in Raya’s first season there was often little understanding between the two and that wasn’t all on Raya.
He’s a very good defender who takes pride in what he does, he also is very good at helping Saliba out. So best to leave him to what he’s good at
On a Spursy note.....
Did anyone switch off the TV at 80 minutes last night?
I only turned it back on when my son sent a text saying it was 1-2.
I was already preparing my "It was only a friendly game" speech and hey presto! It went all Spursy for them
I was so bloody relieved. I could not have faced the same shit just a couple of months after the Europa League final.
