We had no chance of ever winning the title last season because we approached everything with a loser's mentality, hence the terrible start (excuse was we had players coming back from World Cup duty - as if other clubs didn't face that, excuse was we had injuries - as if other clubs didn't face that), hence the collapse at the end of the season (excuse - the chavs had already won it, we had no chance of catching them, it;s understandable that teams coast in when they can't finish first, etc).
The pre-match excuses for Sunday's game:
It's pre-season.
It's preparation.
It doesn't have any bearing on what happens afterwards.
There are no points at stake.
Add whatever other loser reason is required to prepare the mind for the expected loss or dull draw.
If the fans can't manage it, then I hope the players have adjusted their mental attitude. The manager won't, he's a lost cause.
