It's that his lowbrow antics are entertaining for the majority of football fans who could just as easily be distracted with shiny objects. So journalists want to keep him happy and he's not really called out on being a cunt. The average football fan is an idiot that gets spoonfed opinions from Talksport. Mourinhos would be heavily criticised in cricket and tennis. Average intelligence of viewership is on a different level.
If this were cricket or tennis, wouldn’t Wenger be vilified for refusing to shake hands as well? They’re even more strict about sports and ‘gentlemanly conduct’. I thought we were trying to get away from fake gestures?

This has nothing to do with levels of intelligence and we’re moving into that old argument relating to class/sport and generalising. In fact, if we’re going to talk about fans being led by the media, I find it odd how a lot of people seem to be kissing Fergie’s ass and the following the tabloid rhetoric when most Arsenal fans couldn’t stand his guts. I never liked the guy. Zero personality and little tyrant on a power trip. But each to their own.

I don’t have a major problem with Maureen. When he speaks his mind and comes back with a witty un PC response, it breaks the norm. It’s funny and it’s similar to why I enjoy Wenger’s witty remarks when he makes them. The press love Wenger when he makes witty jab and that’s how he should treat Jose. No false outrage just jab back and poke fun at him. Give as good as you get. It’s partly why I find that exaggerated Adebayor celebration in front our fans so funny. Or why that Ox response about bringing back Bendtner was so hilarious. It’s a break away from the usual generic responses we often see in football.
