If we go back to the football we used to play then it could be an exciting move.
Watch some Xhaka videos on youtube and imagine vardy getting on the end of them.

Im sure this is a shift in Wengers thinking. He is a stubborn git, but maybe he has finally realised he needs to change if he wants to win the PL.

Apparently we are bringing Eboue back to teach him how to dive properly and get away with it!

I don't know... Leicester's style is different, but I don't see why Vardy wouldn't fit here? We've generally looked at our best when we've had Welbeck up front, as a hard-working, pacey, pain in the ass, who presses and hassles defenders, and I suppose the 1 or 2 games a year when Walcott actually 'clicks'? We might not get to play that way as often as we'd like, but there is precedent for it. Vary also looks a decent box striker as well as a counter-attacker from open play - not sure about his hold-up play, but we have other options for that. That's an important point here - if we can't find a super-forward who does everything, then the next best thing has to be adding variety so we can rotate...

Yes it's cheap in today's market, but it's 20 million for a 29 year old reliant on his pace with just one good season under his belt, on that basis it's not that cheap, just like Wellbeck wasn't cheap.

This club has a history of making the wrong signings in the last decade, rather than solving problem areas it looks for a cheap fix, it's the wrong approach.

Plenty of players who have had one good PL season and never repeated it and at his age it's very possible this is the case and realistically how long does he have left?

This isn't a shift in thinking, Vardy comes cheap, that's Wenger all over. We don't even have any proof this guy is not a one season wonder, his career points to the fact he is.

Really not sure about this Vardy move. Leicester have pulled off a miracle and their was something special in that camp that drove those players. I don't think we'll get that same form from Vardy.

This is a retirement package. He's 29. Has just won the league and been in the form of his life. He's about to represent his country in the Euros. He's in dreamland. He never expected this for his career and nobody else did either. That's why I worry. He could retire a happy man right now. So I really don't know of he's going to arrive at Arsenal with that same hunger. If he turns up with a 'just happy to be here' attitude and can't believing his luck, all star struck, I can't see us getting much out of this move.

I would prefer a younger player and someone that has time to get over that sophomore jinx. Vardy isn't a rookie but the way he's burst on to the scene because of last season makes it seem so.

    Pretty much.

If he was five years younger, you'd think ok....fair enough late blossomer but broken through. But at his age....it's hard to look at the previous season as anything other than an outlier for him.

It's similar to Giroud's signing. Relegation candidates manage to win the league the following season and we poach their top striker that has only 2 seasons playing at the top of the division. Very different players but similar circumstances.

Again would agree, Giroud also came from lower league football as well

To be honest I am not blown away by this because of the age and the doubt he could do it all over again but I am also not crestfallen by it either because of the price and by the fact he could possibly do it all over again.

He provides us with mobility which is what our game needs to work up front, his work ethic is high and there is no doubt that he knows how to score, I think Ozil will be excited to have a striker that can play off a defenders shoulder. He is a poor mans Suarez in terms of that aspect and we would have blown people away if we had got him but we didn't because we decided to do business like a bunch of prays! So we can't be surprised to see us get the lesser version.

I am going to remain optimistic about this and am glad to see us looking to do business early....:need that defender though
