I know we shouldn't go splashing the cash on any old player, but it's days like this that make me feel like Arsenal are a bit small-time compared to the other big clubs (in the transfer market), picking up the crumbs for cheap and selling them off to the upper bracket. I'd love that excitement that comes with a top well-known player coming in - god knows we need it.

Some players we have no intention of signing. Certain spots are on hold for the kids or its a one in one out policy. Look how quickly we snapped up Nasri after Hleb left. but in a few years he will be demanding we pay him daniel alves wages when chelsea,barcelona,Man U, liverpool,milan, Man city etc are rumoured to be interested in him.
"arsenal is my boyhood club, but I need to win trophies -- i will only be remembered for that" etc
No, in a few years he will be on his 4th loan spell at a Championship club because there is no room for him the squad.

This guy has played 8 times for Charlton and they don't seem that bothered about losing him either, hardly a ringing endorsement of his talent.
Oh more importantly he played 4 times for Eastbourne Borough on loan too.
