We could play this game all day and I think you'd find there's far more successes than failures, especially as we've never spent the absurd amounts on players that numerous other clubs have.

We didn't need to spend "absurd" amounts of money on players; there are good players available on the market at reasonable prices, like Sagna and Vermaelen. Unfortunately, the board and Wenger are so obsessed about profit that they weren't prepared to fork out an extra £5-10M for players who would have made an enormous difference over the last few years, like Alonso.

This is the reason why there's been so many failures, you pay peanuts, and you get monkeys.
