The fact that the FA are shit when it comes to refereeing is a separate issue that also needs addressing.
Why does it concern them? There's legislation to deal with this sort of thing isn't there? Why do we need a second layer of amateurs chipping in?

Next time I cross a line, I'll give you a shout so you can prepare my statement.

You could do that for others too. e.g. "Sorry to have upset people but although some of my best friends are black, I didn't realise the term 'coloured' would cause offence".
    No problem

You get what I am saying though, they could both have apologised for the incident and moved on, but instead they are being arrogant about it all and carrying the whole thing on.

No - I think the media/press campaign in the Terry case - where there is film of him - will be so intense and distracting to the England team that the FA will be left with no choice. They will otherwise face a hostile press for the build-up to and during the Euros. Plus other players committing such offences will have an instant defence because of how Terry was treated, plus Suarez/Liverpool would mount a legal challenge over Suarez punishment and they would pretty well guarantee a significant reduction on Suarez' sentence, thus making the FA look even more stupid than they do now.

Because then the logical result is players suing each other over any challenge causing a bit of a bruise as that is common assault. By the same logic you are applying, the referee should not give a yellow/red card but do nothing and see if the police refer the tackle to the CPS.

Sure - you are right. Had Liverpool done as you suggested, then while Suarez would have had a ban, it would likely have been only 2 or 3 matches.

No, because the rules of the game have been set down for a century and none of those rules concern themselves with social or political issues. A foul is a foul but where are the detailed rules for the words you are allowed to say on a football pitch? Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to see the whole thing descend into farce, like players suing players and refs being dragged into court over loss of earnings. Then we could see where the game (and everything else) will eventually end up if we continue down this lunatic path and maybe a few grown-ups could then intervene.

Not necessarily true. Witches still got burned even when they admitted they were witches. The mindless mob can be vindictive either way.

Why should he/they apologise if they don't mean it?
