Bad interviewer (although it was his first attempt) and a tremendously dull guest. It was hard to stay awake listening to the guy. He failed to establish his credibility beyond stating his CV, gave no sources, drew a blank when it came to more recent events and any of us here could have given that interview just by scanning the threads on GW. Sounds to me like the guy may have been involved in some peripheral capacity but is now very much outside football looking in, like the rest of us.

His conclusions also failed to support his argument. On the one hand he claims Wenger has ultimate power. On the other he states Wenger is set a budget. Right there his story falls to pieces. If Wenger has total control then he sets his own budgets, surely? Then he implies Wenger won't spend money only to suggest Wenger does in fact spend the money but on inflated wages rather than transfers. In other words Wenger doesn't have enough money to both pay the wages and buy premium players. Easy solution would be to set himself a higher budget if he genuinely dominates the club.

But the worst implication of the interview is the waste of money being spent on board members and executives. If they are mere pen-pushers following the instructions of Wenger, we could get by with office temps rather than hiring highly paid professionals. So the sensible solution he should have reached would be to sack all the impotent executives (which Wenger could do as he has ultimate power) and save a shit load of money. The actual conclusion was that Wenger isn't a penny pincher at all. In fact he wastes money on paying castrated executives and mediocre players. Could this be true? Doubt it.
