How was he the bigger ****? He was the one who was racially abused by Suarez, and then got a lot of abuse at Anfield and had a fan make a money gesture at him. However, he got on with the game and didn't react. And anyway, why should Suarez have such an issue with shaking Evra's hand? He's not the victim in this, Evra is. If Evra didn't want to shake Suarez's hand, I'd bet people would be up in arms and claiming Evra's playing the race card and should man up and get on with the game.

This is not meant to be slur on Liverpool FC, as I have no problem with club or it's supporters at all. Looking back at the celebration of Evra, yes perhaps he was a bit OTT, but how Evra can be seen as having behaved worse is bizarre.

And it seems that Suarez had told Liverpool he would shake Evra's hand, so he's let the club down in that regard as well.

“People are already speculating on the pre-match ceremony,” Dalglish said. “But from Luis’s point of view, we have spoken to him and I know he will shake the hand of Patrice Evra and the other Manchester United players before the game.”

I said what I said not realising Kenny actually did come out and say Suarez would shake Evra's hand. There you go then, that shows why Suarez is getting rightly pilloried for it.

Should more be made of Rio Ferdinand not shaking Suarez' hand?

Since when did he become such an activist? Could not shaking hands with the Uruguayan also incite a riot? It seems it was a pre-meditated snub as well. My reasoning behind this is that he had such a short space of time to think (and I'm not actually sure Rio thinks at all) between Suarez not shaking hands with Evra and making an informed decision to withdraw his own hand.

    He's a prat.

Its a Non issue though, Rio did not do it out of spite like suraez he did it because he did not like the way suarez went back on his word.

Suarez deserves the flak given that assurance to Dalglish beforehand. Fair enough. Personally I still find the handshake a trivial thing that should be left to the players, but obviously Suarez didn't help his club at all. I still find the opportunism of Evra afterwards distasteful (and typical of him, I guess). I'd say he knew he was on a win-win.

I just can't believe BBC's Match of the Day decided to use footage from Sky to gauge Kenny Dalglish's reaction to the non-handshake.

Since when has that ever happened before? It's ridiculous.

    This.

I didn't realise Dalglish had come out and said he would do it; he's made him look like an idiot. I still think Evra was just as childish, knew he would get away with any reaction and the media reaction is over the top, but the whole thing is so inevitable it's just as annoying as anything else. And once again we as a club look foolish.
