I think GW has always been geeky like this. The difference now is that there aren't many people who have anything original or thought-provoking to say. For the past month, almost every discussion has come down to whether Wenger is refusing to spend or whether the board isn't making money available. Almost every single one. And there are people, foolishly, taking definite sides of the spectrum when we obviously don't have a clue what's going on. You could argue there is nothing interesting to say because nothing new is happening. But the whole 'wenger vs the board' thing has been done to death.
F*ck all ever happens at this club, why anyone would be surprised there's nothing to talk about is beyond me. Watching paint drying is more exciting.
No real surprise though, giving the fans something back is irrelevant.
why would Vertonghen come to Arsenal over Spurs?
I dont think a segment Arsenal fans are actually thinking about this from his POV. At Tottenham, he will probably get in as a first team player from day one. They are a moderately sized club who are hovering around the champions league spots and would have gotten it were it not for a fluke win by Chelsea.
At Arsenal, he would be competing with 3 other international players including his teammate who he is not starting in front of for Belgium currently at centerback. He would probably be paid around the same too. For footballing reasons, I get why Arsenal were never in the running for him.
