Looks like Sagna is off then. So that's 1 first team position we potentially need to fill, past history suggests we will either promote from within or convert someone from within the squad to play there. I wouldn't put it past us to have Flamini starting there next season.

Hard to disagree. I can't see us ever signing another good player again tbh.

I reckon we will sign a good player again, it's just whether it will be in a position needed. Wenger will sign another Attacking Midfielder in the summer, we can be sure of that, he does it pretty much every summer.

Fullbacks are expected to get up and down the pitch relentlessly in the English game (unless they play for Fulham). Sagna on a longer and more expensive deal looks good right now while the defence is raped by Liverpool settled, but if we're going to spend some of those millions and billions come the summer Sagna may well become a backup anyway. There's more to it than just the contract.
Yes, just like RVP! Sound reasoning.

It all makes sense but my confidence in the scouts/negotiating team and Wenger are pretty low. After the two windows we've just been through, it shouldn't be hard to understand why. It's an area that needs a shake up.

Luis Gustavo has a release clause in his contract after the world cup . Slightly old article from a few months back:

We didn't sign him when he was available though, so I don't think we'll sign him now if he has a good world cup.

You'll hear people say this guy isn't good enough but at the same time applaud the signing of Kallstrom. It's madness.

I don't hear people saying that.
If you don’t send this signature to ten people, you will become a Spurs fan.

You know how it goes around here. If we miss out on a player he was never good enough in the first place but whoever we sign, it's a good call. I've seen a guy completely dismiss the possibility of signing Berbatov but then go on to applaud the Kallstrom deal. Utter madness.
