Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven (UCL) 20.09.2023 - KO - 20:00

The return of Champions League football to the Emirates for first time since March 2017 and the return of a familiar opponent, who we played in last season’s Europa league and who we were drawn against us in the last 16 in our first season at the Emirates.

Almost 21 years ago since we went there and did them 4-0, with Gilberto Silva scoring after 21 seconds

That aside they’ve proven to be tricky opponents, winning just three of our eight matches (drawing three and losing twice)

Don’t expect this to be a thriller, I think this will be another one of those turgid 1-0 games where we get the winner at some point in the second half

Be interesting to see who gets played in goal. Whether players like Smith Rowe, Jorginho, Kiwior and Nelson will get a look in.

Expecting some more rotation with the NLD to think about as well.

9 points out of 9 at home is the bare minimum really. Shouldn’t be too much of a struggle you hope.

    2-0.

Not sure who will play for us in this one, but a convincing win, rather than a gritty close victory, would be a great way to return to the CL

Didn’t realise Xavi Simons had fucked off as well (gone to Leipzig)

Dunno about that, I thought Havertz would start tonight but I still think Vieira will start Sunday unless Havertz suddenly learns how to be a central midfielder and I can’t see that . Jesus I don’t think is fully fit so easier to start him in a game like tonight. Personally I’d have rested a few players tonight, give some others game time like Kiwior, Jorginho and I’d have considered playing Havertz in the Odegaard role.

But it is what it is. I guess you can’t treat even a weak group like ours in the champions league with utter contempt.

That’s Ramsdale done for I guess. Very surprised and somewhat sympathetic towards him.

I’m going to hold out on making that definitive until next Sunday but yeah I think Ramsdale hasn’t really deserved to be dropped, certainly not in the way Leno did.

But it’s funny how he can be super ruthless with some players and can’t bear to drop others. Saka for instance…I thought he played ok Sunday but he was shit against Man United
