Add that to the Sunderland shocker, the Sahin fiasco where a loan transfer is all but sorted only for Wenger to fuck it up as only he can.

We do need to sell a few shite ass players and sign a few more. History suggest we wont.

Its been a shit start to the season both on and off the pitch
Who ever said it was, it was never confirmed by us or real it ever was, it was stupid sites like Goal.com who said it was.

But they their is a reason the deal seems to be off who knows why, but if the wages thing is true why should we pay him that when he is on loan stupid really.

City paid Ade's wages when he went on loan to spurs last season tbh way it should be.

However, the worry is that we've again lost out due to not willing to pay the fees demanded by the selling/loaning club. Wenger is obsessed with value, and will never be willing to pay even a penny above any player's market valuation. This may seem reasonable, but if it results in us not getting another midfielder in before the close of the window, then we're in big trouble. Rosicky, Wilshere and Diaby have all suffered big injuries and it's unreasonable to rely on them. Frimpong is extremely inexperienced and raw, Coquelin the same. Please Arsene, don't let financial considerations stop you from ensuring our squad is well equipped for the coming season.

Another disappointing thing is how late we're leaving this. At the start a lot of fans were saying we should be making fuller use of our resources and complete our business early. Unfortunately, neither seems to be happening. We're probably going to end the summer with a negative net transfer expenditure, which doesn't suggest we're making full use of our financial resources at all.
Like you was not expecting this to happen most would have anyways. we balanced the books end off.

Bit miffed that we are not taking this guy. . .I hear the tough tackler argument though which makes me think that the unnamed team of the three that have pit bids in for MVila could well be us.

Wenger has said that we are in need of a midfielder and I dont think we will go to the end of the window without bringing one in.

Jokers right Wenger is obsessed with value and has obviously chosen this year as the year not to be screwed around. Some may say he let Song go cheaply but on the most part he has played hard ball as I expect him to do in any MVila talks. Real wanted too much for Sahin come next year and he decided to walk away. . .shame cos the guy is quality but. . .

arteta, sahin + cazorla. where's the tackler? where's the physical presence? you could argue that we would have switched our tactics to ball retention but in the premier league that doesn't work because it's simply too physical. we tried ball retention tactics a couple of seasons ago but all we had where players having their legs snapped in half and the team losing points away to the likes of birmingham, sunderland and bolton.

if madrid wanted us to pay 70% wages (roughly 70k a week), a loan fee (£4m) and put a ridiculous buy out clause (£14m), then wenger did the right thing in pulling the plug on a player which would have cost £20m+ especially as he's a player we don't really need. he's a luxury not a necessity. we need a DM, someone who can tackle and has physical presence. we need a flamini, not a wilshere.

im hoping this wasn't the only viable option we were gunning for and that wenger is seeking alternatives now this has gone to bed, maybe it was a smokescreen to get the m'vila price lowered? we'll have to wait and see. alternatively, with wilshere back in training as little as 3 weeks away, was spending £20m on a player when we have bigger problems in other areas of the pitch a viable option? personally i think the answers no.
This we need a DM and this guy is not. But would have been excellent to give us creativity we need.

People starting to report that Liverpool will be paying £12m for the season loan of Sahin.

So we were right to pull out. That is fucking ridiculous.

Yep, it's unlike Liverpool to overpay in such a way.

Of course you'd be right not to.

These are just figures made up by Arsenal fans looking for an excuse as to why we've missed out on him.

I think it's more likely Liverpool were just more willing to pay a higher percentage of his wages, as the BBC say. Surprised what Sahin wants isn't the main consideration but I suppose that's Real Madrid for you.
