    Lets hope he does.

All im saying is that a £42m player shouldnt be relying on shyte. I dont see Ronaldo waiting for anybody.

Ozil is a different player though. He's never been one to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and turn it around single handedly. He's part of the harmony, not the leader. But when he's part of that harmony, he improves it tremendously. And that's what we've seen.

I think that is well summarised.

I do think the club lacks a player or two with the sheer audacity and brilliance to take the game by the scruff of the neck (pardon the repeated cliche) when we are absolutely not on it in the game and nick a point or 3.

I think the problem is that, because of his price alone, people expect Ozil to be the type of player above. I don't think that is wholly fair but I understand why people feel that way.

TBF though shouldn't a 42M player be a game changer rather than one of the pack? Of course we should give Ozil time to bed in and play with our full contingent of regular goal scorers, but at present you would be hard pressed to tell, on performances on the pitch, which of Cazorla, Rosicky and Ozil cost more. Ozil has given the team a lift in other ways. I don't think it's unfair to have expected a little more from him footballing wise so far.

That's precisely the problem I was highlighting.

People will differ on their thoughts on it naturally. I think he is a game changer. I just don't think he's a one man game changer or likely to ever force results in our favour with regularity. I wasn't expecting him to be that sort of player either so regardless of his price tag, I never had much trouble squaring his lack of the knack for the aforementioned.

In fairness there are only a handful of players who regularly change games on their own at this level. Of course no truly great team really relies on one player to constantly do it on their own, but there are but a handful who regularly do it in the absence or whenever their team isn't clicking as well as when their team is playing well.

We would struggle to name more than several players in world football of that ilk.

He's not someone who'll score worldies when we're playing shit to dig us out of a hole, we had one of those but lets not go there...

He's all about the service, you can see it when he tries for a difficult cut back rather than putting a hopeful ball in the mixer like a normal player would.

He is, and he's probably a little too selfless for his own good. But my view is that he has joined us to grab the headlines. He has all the ingredients - one the best first touches in world football, lots of pace, a good brain...he just needs to beef up slightly and then Wenget will do his job of turning those with awful composure in front of goal into fantasy football mavericks. He was already an assist machine, now I reckon he wants a fuckload of goals.

Tbf hes a better ball carrier than I had him down for, not just a pass merchant like that Fabregas.

So thats all the more reason he should be able to decide games. Yeah he needs time to settle, but if hes shyt he needs to own that. Not really interested in this "if Player A did Y" nonsense.

I really dont get football fans/media today... Its all about scoring, no mather what your position is :s I even heard some media talking about Gibbs not doing well enough, because of his scoring statistics (and Wilshere aswell). A guy like Zinedine Zidane would have no chance of winning ballon d'or in todays football, who i think Özil reminds me most about. who btw, people hardly knew about, when he was Özils age.

Im sure we weill see great things from this guy, as soon as he settles in this country/culture, the premier league and within the team. He's still a young guy and will develop even further.

Personally, I'd sum it up by saying he's a team changer rather than a game changer. All well and good, and of course true game changers are uncommon. But if you look at the traditional top 4 (excluding us), all of them (apart from perhaps Spurs - and they sold their game changer to RM) have 2 or more players who can change a game on their own. As we have seen with our own recent examples - you need players like these to help you pick up points when the team has an off day. Its fair to say that perhaps Ozil is a victim of the type of player he is and the manager's decision to break the bank for that type of player, but 42M is enough money to bring a true 'game changer' to the club. I wouldn't be without Ozil, because clearly he has helped to lift our players. But footballing wise, so far his on pitch exploits have not matched his off-field contribution. That's not reactionary or an indication that he can't go on to become a monster under Wenger's tutilage. Just an observation so far. Lets hope that given what we have paid for him his improvement will be quicker than that of the developmental players who cost a lot less for the manager to develop.
