Giroud is quite capable of roughing it out in the PL as he showed in the early part of the season. When he's strong, stands up, takes the initial hit and keeps the ball, makes the simple lay-off and keeps moving he's a good (though still second tier) striker. When he opts to fall over on the first challenge and complain, when he fails to stay on the move to compensate for his lack of pace, when he can't be bothered to stay onside - then it's a problem and blunts our entire game.
If his head is in the wrong place because he let his dick interfere with what is expected of a highly paid striker at a top PL club then there's only one person to blame. It's not about being a snob, it's about all our players giving it 100% in the run in to this title challenge. If we drop below 100% anywhere on the pitch but our opponents don't then we finish 4th. We say we don't want 4th yet again, so therefore we must say we want 100% from all our players or nothing less. The table won't forgive any less at the end of the season.
That performance from Bif yesterday was not even close to being good enough.
As for Sturridge - yes, we need somebody LIKE him but not him. He's a cheat.
Benteke still works for me, powerful, technical and while not blazingly fast he's mobile enough. Plus we wouldn't have to blow the whole budget getting him so could add resources elsewhere.
Für eure Sicherheit
Yeah. Agreed.
Though the snob comment was aimed at those who completely disregard his strengths, and what he is capable of. He's doing pretty much as well as Negredo this year, if not better.
Just becuase he doesn't have the "wow" factor, it doesn't mean he's "shit".
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.
I don't think Giroud or Podolski suit our style of play, and we'd be best off selling both of them in the summer.
Griezmann is the perfect replacement for Podolski and with the Emirates/Puma deal we have no excuse not to be competing with any side for his services.
As for Liverpool....i'm sorry but their fans are deluded, they have a striker on their books on borrowed time who is single handedly giving them a title chance (that will invariably peeter out) and champions league or not they will not keep him next season and with the pressure of European games and without the finances to bring in the kind of replacement for Suarez that they need...they will head back to 7th and 8th where they belong.
WHL is a tough place to go for us and it was a great result, we rode our luck a bit (how they managed to miss that chance when Chesney missed the ball is beyond me) but defended really well.
Fantastic goal by Rosicky and we might have had one or two more, Spurs aren't a great side this season IMO, some poor results recently and to me they really have wasted the 100 million they got for Bale, they were a much better side with him in it no doubt about that.
Always happy to win at Spurs, think we'll need to up our game in the next few games though as clearly those are better sides than Spurs.
Our defence is certainly much better this season, the attack however needs work, a new striker with pace is a must as is DM and perhaps another wing type player who has pace and can get a few goals as well, we need to increase our options off the bench IMO.
Harsh. They've got no other distractions and if Suarez and Sturridge keep scoring at the rate they're going at they've got as good as chance as anyone, even more so with their difficult games against City and Chelsea at home. I still think their midfield is lightweight and their defence is suspect but it's strikers that win you games.
Suarez does need fuck off though along with Rodgers and Sturridge. But apart from Real I don't anyone who'd be prepared to fork out the 60 odd million Liverpool will demand. He also does actually seem to be happy there and I actually think there's a strong chance that he might stay.
One thing I'll say is that I don't think their league form will be as good next season once they have to factor in the hassle of travelling around Europe, playing two games a week and hopefully having to cover for the loss of some of their best players.
Also giving the lack of pace in the team (barring Ox and Theo) I'm prefering Greizemann over Draxler now.
Greizmann AND Draxler.
