No disrespect to Giroud but he would have never scored those goals.

    Dat pace and power!

Giroud has never scored a competitive hat-trick at Arsenal let alone a champions league game. Only once against Vietnam 11.

Fantastic finishing from the kid. Was sceptical at first but the goals he scored, the last in particular, were just clinical. As adapts more to our style, he’ll get more goals.

I really like him. I think his all round game is already really decent and he geniunely links up well with the other attacking players. His finishing last night was superb.

There is definitely room for improvement and I hope he keeps on developing because we could potentially have a gem on our hands here.

Wel happy with Danny's goals last night - that was exactly what I wanted to see from him...

I never thought I'd be holding Özil up as an example of how to finish, but he should be looking at Özil's goal as a good example to follow. Improving his finishing doesn't necessarily mean he has to drastically improve his shooting technique and accuracy - it can just mean going for the simple option, and almost passing the ball into the net, and I really can't see that it would take much work to get him doing that...

Not all successful strikers have to be super-sharp-shooters, who can flash a ball into the net with half a chance - others can be more about clever use of momentum and movement, and using that to fashion more straightforward chances for themselves that don't require such incredible finishes? This is the direction I think we should be pushing Welbeck towards...
...get your movement and timing right, and most of the time all you'll ever have to do is poke it home, or roll it under/around the keeper, like you're making a pass...

Exactly. Finishing can always be improved if given time but the first thing a striker needs is to put himself about and get into promising positions, otherwise there's never an opportunity to score. There's a reason why Podolski doesn't play despite being one of the best finishers we have and it's because he's a sloth who offers no movement.

I know Gala's defence was dreadful but was so good to see a player making runs in behind for a change. Alexis and Chamberlain were doing it as well. We haven't had that for a long time.

Any Utd meltdown's after Welbz tonked it?
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.
