Maybe, I don't even know why the fans had to be mentioned?

Moreover...I don't think anybody thinks Arsenal's global image has been tarnished over the years due to lack of success. We are still a big club...these days we have a reputation for underachieving...which is what has been happening....We can all unite as much as we want but if we are not happy with the team performance then we have a right to say so.

I think it's more a case of those who saw what has been happening at Arsenal wondered why he wasn't given his marching orders quite some time ago.

Many friends of mine who support rival big clubs were surprised Wenger wasn't given the chop after Leicester won PL.

He's pointed the finger at the fans numerous times before so I don't believe that personally, he's quite bitter IMO as he still thinks he should be in the job because by his own standards he was succesful.

As Selassie said, there was no need to even mention the fans, he chose to and he knew what he was doing, it was a thinly veiled dig at them for not blindly continuing to support him.

One more season of Wenger and I believe our reputation for playing decent football would be lost too. It has been a good few seasons of trading on that legacy but the cat was escaping the bag. Wenger and the board are responsible for damaging the reputation of the club. The underachievement, selling our star players, making up the numbers in the CL, the thrashings at the hands of our rivals, the inexplicable transfer windows, all those things that genuinely big clubs don't do. The only thing we were consistently good at was making money. Wenger boosted our financial reputation while the football fell into disrepair. A well managed club, everyone would say. But they didn't mean on the pitch, they meant on the balance sheet.

Anyone see that documentary on Channel 5 about the Wenger-Fergie feud? Nothing we haven't heard of many times before but it was a nice nostalgia trip.

Shame we couldn't keep up with them in the end, those years were great before Abramovich turned up and ruined everything.

Maybe I missed something in the quotes or interview, but where does he admit that he's made errors and that's the reason for our poor performances? Where does he say that he is stepping down because he feels he's no longer up to the task? Heck, I'm sure I saw a another quote there where he says something about the fans needing to accept loses.

Yep, I read that about the losses too. It’s like he was saying we should be grateful that he is manager and the club is still running and we should respect the clubs values blah blah blah

He absolutely refuses to take any responsibility for a drop in the teams performance!

Like does he honestly expect us to be happy with playing second fiddle to the Spuds!

We are not part of the top 4 group anymore, we are absolutely miles behind and Wenger is 100% responsible for that!
