So what are they going to do? Boycott the club? There's a queue waiting to take their places.

Yep...though to be fair to Ivan he kind of covered himself with the "warchest statement" by putting it on Arsene's head to spend, the statement was very much the money is there and in bucketloads, it's up to the manager to spend it.

We really don’t know that for sure. Even if there was a queue, you have to start somewhere and we actually need more forums and bloggers to start pushing that message out. Gazids went around speaking to all the bloggers before the summer to assure them of change. There will be a huge backlash if the summer turns out to be another wild goose chase.

But if we have no intention of meeting their asking price and instead are prepared to wait it out to see if they crack or the player and agent force the issue then this process is far more likely to fail than succeed. If all our eggs are in the one basket and yet we aren't prepared to push on and close the deal then I'd say there's a strange attitude in play here. Either we get a deal or we let it fizzle out. Either would suit just as well if Wenger's words are anything to go by. We pulled the same stunt with Fellaini and apparently he had a real clause in his contract. And no interest in Fabregas either, that can wait another year apparently. So the money is serious but is the ambition to land one of these players serious? Seems like no if you look at the evidence so far.

Maybe, but given that we have been refused permission to speak to him and that Liverpool seem quite firm in their stance that the clause isn't a release clause I have major doubts about it.

Seems like some sort of verbal clause judging by some of the reports.

Besides, Liverpool have specified a price of which they are willing to entertain business, we either pay up or walk away and pursue another target.

Give it a few years and all the revenue will come from Koreans and Vietnamese and Chinese watching via subscription TV, they won't need physical arses on seats. We're eight years in, the backlash should have happened a long time ago but so far nothing. I think fans will be loud and angry for a while but what are we going to do, go down the road and support the chavs? If support dies it will die across football in general and because of a disillusionment with the way things have become so business oriented, I don't think single clubs will die off because supporters get pissed. We saw what happened at Utd, that's about as close as it will ever get and it wasn't even close.

Wenget and co will be torn apart like a peshwari naan on a rugby club curry night.

The most there'll be is a load of booing at matches, before people wander off for a latte and a danish.
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.

I think they've cottoned on the fact there are really no serious repercussions, they play the game and make sure there's evidence that we're chasing/bidding for players.

It's a good game that has worked for many years, they managed to sell most of our best players without any real backlash and it'll be the same if we don't buy any to class ones this summer, a club intent on spending doesn't spend all summer with no real activity and making excuses about a lack of players, too much money and not being able to contact anyone due to tours.

Stadium mostly full, 4th place, job done for another year.

Utd are still winning though. It's no comparison. There is no need to support another team. Just withdraw financial support in certain areas. Boycott games, merchandise, Sky, Pies…whatever. Something is better than nothing.
