Cripps is right, Cesc is a flop.
-Was made the axis and captain of our last good team and won fuck all.
-feigned injuries, whinged and sulked his way out to join the Bar****s where he's flopped under 2 separate managers.
-a flop where the Spanish Nat'l team is concerned as well.
Don't know why anyone would want the **** back here, tbh.
Pretty much. All of that is fact.
Anyone dare dispute it?
Didn't think so

This is all ridiculous.
He wasn't a great captain but that doesn't mean he isn't a good player. We didn't win anything but one player isn't solely responsible for the success or failure of a team. If Usain Bolt was in a 4x100 with GB, Maccy and me (sorry fellas) you wouldn't chastise him for the failure of the team as a whole.
As for him being a 'flop', he's playing for one of the best club teams in the world and the Spanish have been the best national side in the world. He might not have shone at that level but we are nowhere near that level, he could clearly do a job for us.
All that said, he's clearly not going to join us so I don't know why I bothered to write all that really.
There two Cesc Fabregas'. The one that played for us before 2009. He was the gay pass master who used to rack up about 7 million assists and everyone loved him because he got them fantasy football points. But he was a little bitch who had no balls. And then there was 2009-2011 Cesc. This Cesc was a selfish, ****y, dickhead who knew he was about 7 million times better than our other players and so did all the work himself. He used to kick the shit out of the quicker opponents (and let's face it, everyone's quicker than him) and he used to turn referees in our favour by being a superb whiny shithead.
I would love to have 2009-2011 Cesc back to show the talented but raw British core how to get the job done.

Evening Standard: Arsenal improve on £30m offer to land Liverpool's Luis Suarez but moves for Fellaini, Higuain and Cesar look set to fail.
:haha:
If there's any truth to this they've played it very well this window. Having completely unrealistic fallbacks in Rooney and Suarez has allowed them to skilfully dispense with the achievable signings. Clever stuff - they've had lots of practise of course. It must have been a hard task getting the balance right this year, given the £70mill war chest bollocks. Rooney was borderline, and incredibly unrealistic target but with a tiny fragment of outlandish possibility. Ronaldo, for example, would have been ludicrous even for us. The Suarez ploy has been excellent though.
And the Fabregas thing, genius. Charge £30mill, buy him back for £25mill, nothing actually changes hands I guess as Barca won't have paid us yet. That whole deal could be done on the books for a £5mill profit. When you add in the deadwood that's been dropped this could be a bumper window. If he comes we profit, if he doesn't we profit. It would be perfectly safe to sign him so I see this one as the most likely at, say, a 1% chance of being done - compared to the others which have a dramatically lower possibility.
It all stems from knowing just how much to underbid by. You need to be in the ballpark but make it just a little under. Get it wrong and the other club might suddenly agree. So kudos to our crack transfer sabotage team, nobody does it better.

I don't know about you and others who might have lost hope/ambition, but the level at which you hold Barca is the level at which I aspire my club to be. We weren't far off some years ago, and it's no surprise that we started to take a step down after we tried to make a player who wasn't good enough (you've pretty much admitted he's not good enough to play or shine at the top level) the hub of our team. As I said, I want my club team to regarded as one of the best in the world again, and Cesc doing a job for us won't get us there. We already have our fair share of "do a job" players a la Arteta, Ramsey, Giroud, etc.

FFS! Now Bendtner is not going to Frankfurt, their sportsdirector has just made a statement where he thanks Arsene Wenger for the good dialog, but in the end Bendtner apperently is asking for to much money, even when arsenal are offering to pay some of his salary...

I'm not saying he had a shit team around him and my analogy was a deliberate exaggeration. My point is he was not solely responsible for us not winning anything and had we not had him in that era we'd probably have been the poorer for it. We failed to win things despite him being in the team, not because he was in the team.
I haven't lost hope/ambition of us becoming a real force again but it's unrealistic to think we're suddenly going to bridge the huge gulf in class between us and a team like Barca. It's stepping stones and signing good players, and Cesc clearly is one, would be a step in the right direction after so many steps in the wrong one.
Would he make us as good as Barca? Obviously not.
Would he improve our squad? I think so.
Is he the only player who could? Of course not.
I'm not desperate to see him back in an Arsenal shirt but I don't understand anyone being violently against the idea either as IMO he's improve the squad which is what we need to do.

I will give you everything you say here except that him coming back would be a step in the right direction. We already have 2 Spanish B listers and one that hasn't made any list in Spain, last thing we need is their biggest flop. We should be looking to remodel our team of late 90's - mid 2000's (seems to be working well for Bayern), not cram our team with lightweight duds.
On a slightly less related note, I don't understand why the ****, who's no less of a **** than RVC, Nasri, et al, gets such a free pass on here.

Josh you usually talk a lot of sense, but on this one I disagree. Our midfield as it stands is filled out with the imperious majesty of Ramsey and Arteta, players who should only be employed cleaning the turns off Vieira boots. Cesc left mainly because like others he got tired of Wengers end of the rainbow promises. If we had kept Flamini and added quality instead of dross we would not be eternally scrambling for 4th. Cesc is better than anything we currently have and has added to his game since joining Barca, he now plays a mean support striker role when needed.it would be churlish to dismiss his quality, especially as there is a good chance Wenger won't buy anyone and we will have the shuffling lamppost Ramsey and doddering postbox Arteta as our mainstays in midfield again. Oh happy days!

I can't believe what I'm seeing on here, Cesc not good enough for us? A flop at Barca?
For starters Cesc is at Barca at a time where they have one of the best midfield combinations if not in the history of the game then certainly of the last 30 years at least in Iniesta and xavi - how can that be seen as being 'a flop'!
When he is used- half the time it's as a false number 10 - practically being played as a striker of sorts, Baca and Spain use him differently then we did. You really thinks he expects them to drop messi, xavi, iniesta for him! Get real!
The same goes for Spain, who have an embarrassment of riches in the midfield area, a good few class players also struggle to make the first 11, Mata,Martinez,Alonso,Silva to name a few - oh and let's not forget Santi.
And for those who say he hasn't done anything of note in the big games - let me remind you he has played a huge part in the winning goals of ALL 3 major competition wins for Spain - if I'm not wrong he assisted in all of them ,coming off the bench to effectively turn the game each time.
Oh sorry, or have I forgotten that European Championships and World Cups are inferior to our over-hyped Premier League. My bad.
Now I'm not saying he's the midfield answer we are looking for,but to say he couldn't be more effective than say,Ramsey/Arteta is just plain embarrassing.
Look, If you just don't like him, fair enough - but enough of the Cesc being shit or not high grade enough for us bollocks. Who do we think we are - Barcelona.....

He's also undeniably a massive, massive **** who deserves no less slating than the other ****s who ran off.
Would want him nowhere near our club again.
As I said ,if you don't like him - then yes, that's your choice.
The point I was attempting to make was that 'failing' at Barca isn't like failing at most of European big clubs due to superior players he has had ahead of him. He's not in like say Songs class of a disastrous signing - now that's what you call flopping. He hasn't been too bad , it's just that Barca have risen the bar soon high in recent seasons, the fans expect to see Xavi/iniesta type quality and effectiveness from the get go. Many very good players could easily have had a similar experience to Cesc at Barca.

I really don't know what I would do if we signed Barry. I should probably just top myself but I would be appreciative of how dedicated Wenget is to his WUM work.
In many ways the Barry signing would be perfect:
1) Cheap
2) Has been nobody else wants
3) Can play in different positions (defence and midfield), thus saving us more money on signings for other positions in future
4) Won't hinder progress of any kids
5) Would be a way of p*ssing off the fans and sticking two fingers up at them

If they blow the whole budget on Suarez they need shooting. One striker who's likely to be suspended half the season will be like going back to the bad old days of RvP. Great when he's available, stuck with Giroud when he's not. In fact even if they have £70mill to spend it's a drop in the bucket in terms of the overhaul this team needs.
Luckily then they aren't getting Suarez. Unluckily (for us) they may be getting nobody at all. So I suppose nothing can happen anyway until this Asian tour is over, unless Wenger isn't going to be involved.

I don't really see the point in going after Suarez, no way will he join us. It's just a waste of time.
Surely the board wont turn round and say, after a summer of signing nobody of note, "We tried to sign Higuain, Suarez, Rooney etc, you can't blame us for not trying". Surely they don't think the fans are that stupid to buy the bullshit??
It's a non-story. We're obviously not going to pay what Liverpool will want so there's no point even considering it. The papers are as bad as ever this summer. With social media (blogs, twitter etc.) getting so many hits, it's impacting the press - their usual bending-the-truth ways are not as interesting to the ****s that buy them, because they're more interested in fantasy stories. So in order to compete, the press have also increased their bullshit/truth ratio. As Maccy said, we'll probably be linked to a Madrid CM tomorrow just because they've bought that Sociedad kid.

I am always painted like a guy who refuses to spend money,

If needed, we want to be the best, but the best is not only about buying players.

In many ways the Barry signing would be perfect:
1) Cheap
2) Has been nobody else wants
3) Can play in different positions (defence and midfield), thus saving us more money on signings for other positions in future
4) Won't hinder progress of any kids
5) Would be a way of p*ssing off the fans and sticking two fingers up at them
You have to have been a 'been' to be a 'has been'.

Think about it, the offers made on those players add up to £70m.

I can't for the life of me see why we would be willing to bid 35/40million for Jaws when for around 10-15 million less we could go a long why in securing a deal for Huigain for say 25 million, who I'd prefer out of the two

Assuming those bids are indeed real (i'm sceptical), we know we won't get Suarez so it's a safe bid, upping our bid for Higuain would probably secure him. This scenario would then require us to pay up and we're not keen on this.
Failed bids however look good to the fans and will allow us to secure cheaper players safe in the knowledge that people will believe we tried to make big signings.

Thing is they've done this before so it's nothing new, they've got not respect for the fans and consequently they don't expect any of them to catch on with what's going on, they think we're just some lemmings that will buy any cr*p.
I agree we're not as desirable as before, but let's face it if the bids for Suarez are real we know they are too low and that Liverpool aren't stupid enough to sell him to us considering they don't want to sell in the 1st place.
I personally can't see that we would be 22 million for a player, never mind 30 million.

Pretty gutted that Spurs are targeting Benteke - they'll probably get the deal done soon too. This is the kind of player we should be realistically going for. Someone who would love to play for us, has bags of talent, looks like he's gonna score every game and 19 prem league goals in his debut season for a struggling side wasn't too shabby...seriously, this guy could be as effective as Henry for us.. to me it's a no brainer...get him on board, then spend the xtra few million trying to secure Higuain. I just don't understand how Wenger can go on tour in Asia when there's so much to be done in terms of bringing in players.

Fair enough, but Henry wasn't our greatest ever striker at 22 was he? stats wise - I think Benteke prob more effective at the same age...he looks to have a similar level of arrogance to Henry already, scores a variety of goals (not too many with head ala Henry) Knows how to curl a shot in, and seems an excellent target man - one of the best CF talents I've seen in a while...interesting how Belgium have both him and Lukaku coming through at the same time...I wasn't comparing him outright to Henry...but I do think should he stay with us - he could be a huge talent and as effective as Henry...
Think him and an in form walcott would be interesting to see.

What I've learned in this transfer window is that we have greater financial resources than ever before. And having greater financial resources than ever before means we can actively pursue higher quality players, the big names everybody talks about. Therefore, rather than being forced to target a £10m player and offering £7.5m, we can now easily target a £20m player and offer £15m or a £30m player and offer £22.5m. Sadly players aren't 'available' in either scenario but it feels much better to be a hobo being thrown out of fine dining establishments rather than a hobo being thrown out of McDonald's and KFC. Doesn't it?

Higuain would now be an Arsenal player had Wenger not baulked at paying Real Madrid an extra €2.3m and decided that, if he was going to spend a €29m fee, he may as well do so on Suarez, who he regards as a player of even greater quality.
Fellaini would also be an Arsenal player if Wenger sanctioned the €116,000-a-week contract that the player's camp feel he is entitled to. The Gunners have so far offered merely to match his €87,000-a-week Everton deal.

Speak to senior sources about Arsenal recruitment and they reveal that the power rests principally with one man - Wenger. As one figure told Goal, "The problem is that Arsene dithers and changes his mind all the time".
And that's all they have to go on, not even a confirmation the source is from within Arsenal. Anyone could write that shit, it's not journalism it's pure speculation. A bit like a fan pretending to be some sort of insider just because they have a good imagination. The chances of anyone inside the club making that statement are zero. So this wannabe journo could have been interviewing his mate down the pub for all we know. In fact that's the most likely scenario.

Suarez is better than Higuain for sure and he's Prem Proven. So if Wenger thinks he could get Suarez then he's gonna try.
This is what makes managing Arsenal much more difficult than City or Chavs. They can buy both, we can only buy one. The danger is whilst we're waiting for Suarez, Higuain will go elsewhere. Is it worth the risk? I dunno, but if Suarez wasn't a wanker he'd have been voted the best player in the Prem last season.
Also let's not forget that Higuain is owned by the biggest club in the world. Not easy to buy from them and not easy to tempt the player away.

That's no argument. The reason shits changed because of tolerance levels and what's deemed as acceptable and what we turn a blind eye too. What's the difference between Suarez trying to wind up a player and a crowed in Italy, Spain or Eastern Europe shouting racist chants to throw a star player of their game? If you have no problem with Suarez coming here, then you must be able to understand why FIFA do very little to combat racist chants and hand out petty fines. Self interest is what it boils down to.
I doubt we'll sign him and if we did, Wenger would have to speak with the squad about it first. He comes with baggage. Saying that, it might do him some good to be here.

At this point I don't even care anymore, it's clear our manager has become some what of a coward. He's happy with the minimum pressure/expectations to just qualify for the CL and make out the group stages.
After every season, he can get patted on the back for qualifying for the CL, and he can gloat, and tell everyone, what a wonderful job he did. With a team that cost so much more less than City, Chelsea, United etc. And how he's gonna try and bring some top class players for the next season.
